Breckenridge, MN is located at the headwaters of the Red River, which flows 549 miles north into Lake Winnipeg in Ontario, Canada. In April of 1997, a devastating flood occurred in the Minnesota Red River Valley, resulting in a 3' wall of floodwater covering this city. In response, the following year a vigorous program of building flood protection was instituted. A portion of that community’s floodwall system features the IFCW™. The IFCW™ preserves riverside beauty and protects this city from ravaging floods. The vista being preserved is "Headwaters Park", at the convergence of the Bois De Sioux and Ottertail Rivers. This historic and geographically significant environment would have been hidden by a 4' permanent concrete wall, forever erasing future generations’ enjoyment if not for the IFCW™.
